The owner of the app, ByteDance, repeatedly denied all the allegations but no consensus was found.
Even after Dolald Trump tried to ban TikTok in the USA, its popularity continued to rapidly grow.
A potential deal involving selling part of ByteDance’s business in America to Walmart and Oracle was aimed to resolve this issue. But Chinese government declined the offer.
After Joe Biden became new President Mr. Trump's order was withdrawn allowing ByteDanсe to distribute TikTok in the USA without any restrictions.
Facebook apps tried to hold the leading spot (which the company had since 2018) but eventually had to concede to the new ambitious rival.
At the time TikTok is the only video-sharing app not owned by Facebook that is in the top five of downloads worldwide.
In China the application also holds the first place along with its main competitor Douyin.
Mark Zuckerberg still holds the most of the market with his flagship Facebook app along with Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. But TikTok continues to gain more popularity day by day.
